I really like the Mighty Mighty Construction Site book that I have, and this one looks the same but different. Instead of being about ALL the big trucks, this book is about just one. And actually it’s not even about a big truck! It’s about the littlest truck. Her name is Kid McGear and she’s a skid steer. The other big trucks are unsure about her at first but then something happens and she helps fix everything and they all like her after that. This is a pretty good book to look at and listen to. I like the pictures and the rhymes.

This is the first book from the Goodnight Goodnight Construction Site universe that focuses on one character, and I’m so glad the first character to get this special treatment is a girl and also the smallest machine on the whole construction site. The story is a great one about teamwork and how everyone can (and should) contribute, and how just because you’re small it doesn’t mean you’re not valuable. As always, the illustrations are spot on and the rhyming text makes this a joy to read aloud.
