Baby librarian Tilly and her mum Jen review the wonderful bedtime book Good Night, Sleep Tight by Mem Fox, illustrated by Judy Horacek.

I like all of the books by Mem Fox, and this is no different. This one has a bunch of songs and rhymes so it’s extra fun! My favourite is the page with the ‘This Little Piggy’ rhyme because I have another book that’s JUST that rhyme and that one has a finger puppet. I used to like biting the puppet when I was a baby. There are other songs I know too, like ‘it’s raining it’s pouring’. This is a very good book to listen to. Also the pictures remind me of the pictures in my other favourite books, like Where is the Green Sheep? and This and That so I like that.

It is no secret that I love Mem Fox (and especially the partnership of Mem Fox and Judy Horacek), and this is another great book from the duo. This book is a book set at the bedtime of Bonnie and Ben, who were being looked after by their favourite babysitter, Skinny Doug. He tells them lots of nursery rhymes as bedtime stories, and the nursery rhymes are seamlessly woven into the story and text (I’ve written before about the importance of nursery rhymes). The sequel, Bonnie and Ben Rhyme Again, was released last year and we were lucky enough to attend an event with Mem Fox and Judy Horacek where they read aloud the new book, along with some of their other books (which I wrote about here). Both books are ones I highly recommend.
